Let me introduce to you the Golden Cycling Club's Water Bottle Search. With four months of mild weather recreation on the bike trails in the golden area, we have decided to add a task to your exercise, each month offering one stainless steel water bottle hidden amongst the trail networks, from Moonrakers and the KHMR to Mount 7 and Mountain Shadows.
To participate refer to this page on the Golden Cycling Club Website or The Force each month for the clue to the bottles whereabouts. Included in its volume are prizes from local shops and restaurants.
August 2008:
Congratulations to Peter Hawkes for finding the second water bottle.
As well as a stainless steel water bottle, he has won dinner for two at the Brewmaster's Dinner at Eagle's Eye.
Thanks to our sponsors: Kicking Horse Gear Exchange & Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.
For those of you who didn't solve it:
Your clue was:
It’s not a bowl over to find this 2nd bottle
I don’t know why I’m in Sylvester’s yard
Hanging out with the troll.
Sylvester – otherwise known as Rocky (Know why = No Y), hence Rock. Yard = Garden. It was hidden in Rock Garden. Trolls hang out under bridges – so there it was under one of the bridges in Rock Garden in Crystal Bowl !
(Andy did move it to a more obvious spot twice because nobody had found it !)
Watch out for the next clue for September on this site and in The Force.
July 2008:
Congratulations to Brian Feeney for finding the first water bottle.
Thanks to our sponsors: Eleven 22, Darkside, Kicking Horse Gear & Exchange & Elite Nutrition.
For those of you who are still cycling around aimlessly scratching your heads:
July's clue was:
It’s a “race on necky” to find the bottle
Follow the line to see where I’m trapped
There’s not much left of me now
So free me from this rock
Race on Necky translates to Canyon Creek and the bottle was hidden under some rocks in the old trapper’s cabin just off the trail. Easy when you know the answer!
