Kicking Horse Bike Park

khmr

Upon the shoulders of the Dogtooth Range, beckoning as an alternative for those who don't want to destroy their trucks endlessly shuttling, Kicking Horse Bike Park boasts the highest elevation and longest vertical descent of any bike park in Canada. Yes, even more than that other bike park.

Immediately popular with the white-knuckle crowd when it opened 10 years ago, KHBP has undergone a metamorphosis of diversity in the past 4 years to become the leading bike park in the Kootenays, highlighted by its signature trails, the über-flowy wooden Stickrock and the colossal Pioneer-Claim Jumper DH singletrack combo.

With the recent opening of the Catamount chair on the lower mountain, beginner and intermediate riders too intimidated by the 1200 m gondola-accessed trails now have a choice of shorter, easier trails upon which to shred. And the addition, hopefully in 2012/3, of a new high-speed jump trail will round out the appeal for the rippers.
