Moonraker & Mount 7 News July 10, 2010
We had our 'official' opening of the newest trail, "Tonight Tequila", last Saturday and only one rider went over the handlebars negotiating the switchbacks. The trail makes it way from the north end of "Arrowhead" all the way to the Tower Road (opposite "Bear Claw"). Just watch out for the soft shoulders on the switchbacks. We are still finishing some sections on the north end of the trail but it is ride able so check it out.
The trail crew is presently working on the trail connecting the Moonrakers to Golden. This is a long trail (just under 7 km) and we are presently 25% completed. Sections of this trail will be opened up as they are completed. We expect the trail crew to put in a week of work on the Mt Seven trails and help out our poorer cousins. This work will be paid for out of the GCC funds and not the CBT funds.
The public access issue for the Sander Lake trail head continues to remain unresolved. Please slow down when using this private road – if you are raising dust you are driving too fast. Unfortunately, this issue has affected our hoped for pump track and skills area development at Sander Lake. GCC is presently looking into relocating to another site.
Our group ride to Campbell Road went well. A total of 16 riders made the trek to Campbell and Mitchell Roads to check out this local gem. The next group ride is slated for Wednesday, July 14, and anyone interested in taking part should show up at the Mt Seven parking area at 1800 that night. This ride is rated at intermediate to advanced but is good fun at whatever level you ride. Italian afterwards. Further info available by phoning 250 348-2533. Cheers everyone.
