Established in 1986, the Dawn Mountain Trail system was designed for maximizing the tremendous snow conditions for Nordic skiing near Golden.
The system is operated by the Golden Nordic Ski Club Society in cooperation with the B.C. Ministry of Forests and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Our focus is classic ski trails, but the Chickadee loop is groomed for skate skiing.
In the summer, cyclists will enjoy the Beaver, Chickadee, Moose and Moosemeat loops. We plan to add trails as feasible. 14k are track set as of 2004.
The trail system includes a variety of very scenic loops from the staging area at the resort. Daily trail fees are collected in the cashbox at the trailhead where day skiers sign in. Club membership includes a season's pass. Maps and application forms for membership are at the trailhead. A comfortable day use warmup cabin is located 1k from the trailhead, with first aid pack and rescue sled.
Trail maps available at local bike shops.
